Community Vegetable Garden

Join our team of gardeners and enjoy growing your own fresh fruit and vegetables in a lovely setting.

What is it about?

The community garden is for people who would like to learn more about growing fruit and vegetables or those with insufficient time or space to grow fruit and vegetables at home. Working as a group the tasks are shared and everyone can learn from one another. Volunteers get to take fresh food home and the surplus is offered to the public to help fund the gardens.

When and What time?

The Story

In 2016 we decided to start a new gardening project on an area of previously unused land.

We thought it would be nice to provide a gardening space for local people to use – a garden for people to enjoy being outdoors, learn new skills, meet new people and contribute to a valuable community facility.

The hard work clearing and preparing the ground began in the spring 2016.

By the summer of 2016 the sowing could finally begin!

Summer 2020 – our smart new vegetable barrow is topped up regularly with fresh produce from the community garden for the public to buy. All the money raised goes back into supporting the garden.
